I went to the Waikanae Pool today with my family for my daughter’s school swimming day. She has only just turned 5 so it was great to be there and see the whole school. I’m going to stand for the Board of Trustees. I’ll have kids there for a while (my son is nearly 2) so I’m in for the long haul.

I managed to convert the Maori Land Court welcome page from an old style table based layout, with sliced and diced images and Javascript mouseovers to a new standards based format, with nearly true semantic markup and css for layout and mouseovers (no javascript). I have drafted an article/case study which I am going to try to get published to help other standards newbies and converts. If they don’t want it I’ll post it here.

I’ve been playing with photoshop and trying some plugins. I’m certainly not much of an expert when it comes to editing graphics (and certainly not an artist of designer). The fish idea (blatant idea theft) came from a site I saw on the CSS Vault site. I still need to tidy up the other colours on this site so that its readable on the chopping board. Again, I re-itterate my love of CSS…

Can’t remember where I found the link, but I came across Pictures from Chernobyl. This is from a motorcyclist who rides (fast) through it because there are no people or vehicles. It’s quite amazing to see a ‘modern’ ghost-town.
