Oh yeah. How cool. End of discussion.
I’ll be lining up for one when it hits the shelves in NZ (probably with a bigger harddrive and more RAM). This is a smart move by apple; capitalise on the brand familiarity and current fad status of the iPod with a serious, price competative mac. And of course like most apple products it look awesome too.
A mate of mine works at a leading electronics/computer store and said they’re likely to cost around NZ$1k and NZ$1.5k for the 1.4.
I’ve been toying with getting a set-top machine for a while I just couldn’t decide which route to take; either a modded XBox, or a tivo (or clone) i guess now there is only one option…and thats the mac!
I emailed the NZ store to ask them. they sent the following back (very fast response too
I looked at the AU site and they are AU$799 and AU$949
I just found this:
http://store.apple.co.nz/public/product/group.php?pgid=AP25
NZ$949 and NZ$1129. That’s expensive, and shipping is an extra $20. I think when it comes time to buy I’ll be getting someone in the US to get me one.
I ordered a 1.42GHz from MagnumMac - $999+GST. The 1.25 should be about $850+GST.
Prices from the Apple NZ store are slightly higher ($4-$5 or so, plus you pay shipping then).
I look forward to seeing your review Patrick
